Celebrating 15 Years with HomeAid

May 1st was a perfect day for having some fun for a good cause. HomeAid of Los Angeles/Ventura held a food and wine event at Boccaccio's Restaurant on The Landing in Westlake Village at 5 pm until 8 pm.
Those who purchased tickets to the charitable event were treated to hors d'oeuvres, wine tasting, live music, a silent auction, and boat rides at sunset.
HomeAid is one of many chapters operating nationwide under the Building Industry Association that provides supportive housing through the contributions of home builders in California. The housing organizations they support, like Casa Pacifica, help the transitionally homeless regain self sufficiency. HomeAid partners with home builders and their trade associates to build, expand or renovate facilities.
Boccaccio's Restaurant, framed by the Santa Monica Mountains with its European lakeside feel, was a perfect setting for a gathering of about 50 - 60 sponsors and people affiliated with the building industry. The restaurant donated their patio, servers, and hors d'oeuvres of Shrimp Cocktail, Bruschetta, Filet Mignon, and BBQ Chicken on skewers.
LL DJ & The Band (AKA "What it is") played some nice tunes starting out with "Killer Joe" and included classics like "Route 66."
The Organizers
A wide variety of unique wines were donated from The Grill on the Alley, The Napa Tavern, and Wades Wines.
Some of the interesting wines that I enjoyed were:
2008 Ceja, Chardonnay, Napa Valley - Carneros
2011 Eden Ridge, Chardonnay, Mendocino (Barrel Select)
2006 Departure Wine Company, Syrah, Santa Ynez Valley, Tierra Alta Vineyard
2007 Ceja, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
2007 San Antonio Winery/San Simeon, Merlot, Paso Robles
2010 Dalton Canaan Red, Israel, Upper Galilee
2010 Sobon Estate, Zinfandel, Hillside
2011 Tensley, Syrah, Santa Barbara County
Speaking about HomeAid, the event, sponsors, donations, and the silent auction.
