LA Oktoberfest 2014

 Beer, Brats and Bavarian Dancers
The Beverly Hills Country Club was recently the site of the Los Angeles Oktoberfest® benefitting Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services and the Chill Foundation
Thanks to Barcelona Enterprises for bringing it all together!

Alan Semsar showing off his Bavarian style with some help.
Many of the official beer maidens and festival-goers had on their Dirndl Dress and quite a few guys had on Bavarian Lederhosen.

Erik poured a few quick cans into this woman's stein, which produced a tall, foamy head, and she shared it with her friend!
It was a warm day, but the beer was chilled with lots of ice!
Some of the beer was even frozen...

Fantastic Fig and his cat Newton showed us all a few card tricks.  I think the cat is a mind reader.
Now how did he know that the card I was thinking of was stuck on the bottom of his shoe?
The Germany's Famous Bratwurst food truck must have driven a long way to get here.
The wait for brats was very short at the beginning.
And then they became VERY popular...
This is the looooong line for Germany's Famously Slow Bratwurst.
Prost!
Lots of fun contests!
There were actually two similar contests: The Stein Holding Contest (on the stage above) and the Bladder Holding Contest (in the line below). I didn't participate in the Stein contest, but I can safely say I was a winner in the getting-to-the-restroom-safely-after-several-liters-of-beer contest.
This guy was the most animated Bladder Holding contestant.
It helps to keep moving.
Trinken!
Glücklich!

Overall, this Oktoberfest was a great time and I met lots of fun people.

I didn't have an opportunity to taste every single beer, wine, or spirit, but I especially enjoyed these:
  • A shot of Infuse Vodka - Chili Pepper
  • A glass of the Fruit Labs Strawberry Lemonade Fruit Fresca
  • Widmer Brothers Upheaval IPA
  • Widmer Brothers Okto Festival Ale
  • St Peter's Brewery India Pale Ale
  • Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. Hoppy Poppy IPA
  • Ballast Point Sculpin IPA
  • Warsteiner Oktoberfest
I've had the Bottle Rock Wines (The Jam & Anthem) and Harmata Family Wines 2012 Memory Maker Cabernet Sauvignon before and they are all very good.

What can I say? I like IPA beers and I mainly focused on beer tasting. Luckily, there was a little something for everyone.

Prost!
